Questions about Class Dojo?

The Class Dojo Program we are using for behavior management may be new to you and some questions have come up. We hope this helps!
+Points can be earned as a whole class and individually throughout the day.
+If there is a greater concern for any particular misbehavior, a school discipline report will be sent home detailing the concern for you to sign and return.
+Positive points include: Helping Others, On-task, and Participation.
+Negative points include: Off-task, No homework (including agenda), and Disrespect.
+These are general categories. It is our hope that this helps keep you in the loop as to how your child's overall day goes.
+If a child falls below 60% positive at the end of the day they may owe morning recess minutes and/or write home a letter for a signature the following day.
+We do our best to use the point system as fairly as possible, but I'm sure mistakes are sometimes made as with any system. We appreciate your time checking in on your child's progress and welcome any suggestions and/or questions you may have. Thanks!

Vanderbilt Wearables

Orders for t-shirts and sweatshirts are due TOMORROW, Sept. 11.

Fire Drill

Yesterday, our students went outside for a fire drill.  It ended up taking over 40 minutes while the Fire Department looked for a faulty alarm.  Our students were awesome!  We are so proud of how they handled this tricky situation.  Great job!

Homework?

Usually the kids will have math homework Monday-Thursday. Spelling homework will be added as we move through the initial review unit. We also strongly encourage the kids to read at home with an adult or independently every day. The more exposure to reading the better!  Let us know if you have any questions!

Class Dojo

This year we will be using the Class Dojo application for classroom behavior management.

This is a website where we can keep track of BOTH good behavior and poor behavior choices throughout the day.

At the end of the day, we will record the positive percentage each student earned for their overall day.

All students start out with 0 points each morning.

Example of a day:
-Bob is staying on-task, he earns a point. Total: 1
-Bob completed his homework, he earns a point. Total: 2
-Bob is talking to a neighbor, he loses a point. Total: 1
-Bob isn't following hallway procedure, he loses a point. Total: 0
-Bob is helping his friend, he earns a point.  Total: 1
-Bob is polite, he earns a point.  Total: 2
*Bob ends the day with a 67% (Ready to Learn)

At the end of the day, the percentage will be documented.  We will follow this format:
Super Star = 100% (That's a completely positive day!  Wow!)
Role Model = 90%-99%
Excellent Worker = 80%-89%
Ready to Learn = 60%-79%
Make Better Choices = 50-59%
Teacher's Choice = 49% and below

Attached to the First Grade Handbook, you will find your student and parent access codes to track daily points.  We hope you will find this a useful tool to track your child's days and have discussions at home.

If you have ANY questions or concerns regarding Class Dojo please don't hesitate to ask!
